On Friday 27th June, 2:00 pm, at the Sjöhistoriska Maritime Museum in Stockholm, it’s opening time for “Havsfiske – sex turer på Nordatlanten” (Ocean Fishing – Six Trips on the North Atlantic) which features about 30 photos from my book ‘Images of Fishermen: the North Atlantic’.
I’m quite excited because with this event as I haven’t had any exhibition before at Sjöhistoriska. What adds to the buzz is that promotional activities include posters in the Stockholm Subway – to be seen by 800,000 train riders. That’s actually 20 times the total population of the Faroes or more than twice than Iceland’s.
Iceland’s Ambassador to Sweden, Mr. Guðmundur Árni Stefánsson, is scheduled to do the inauguration of this exhibition — and this is a travelling exhibition set to be held in various Nordic locations over the next two years. The event is produced by the Sweden-Faroe Society (Samfundet Sverige-Färöarna), the Sweden-Iceland Society (Samfundet Sverige-Island) and the Nordic Cultural Fund.
